Collin County Journal is an independent news publication and media organization serving Collin County, North Texas, Texas, and readers who care about how public decisions affect daily life.
CCJ reports on local government, growth, public spending, roads, schools, public safety, elections, development, culture, business, Texas, and major U.S. stories with real consequences for our audience.
Our goal is simple: explain what is happening, show why it matters, and give readers enough context to understand the decisions being made around them.
CCJ also owns and maintains related Princeton-focused coverage and legacy work associated with The Princeton Journal. That affiliation reflects the same publishing operation and editorial control, while Collin County Journal is the central public brand moving forward.

Our Reporting Approach
We rely on public records, meeting agendas, city packets, court filings, official statements, interviews, direct reporting, public data, and other verifiable materials whenever possible.
We aim to write clearly for regular readers. A government agenda, budget item, zoning case, lawsuit, campaign claim, or infrastructure project should not require specialized legal or government experience to understand. Our job is to translate the record without losing the facts.
Our Independence
Collin County Journal is editorially independent. Our coverage decisions are made independently and are not controlled by political parties, government officials, developers, advertisers, or outside interest groups.
Independence matters because readers should be able to trust that coverage is based on public interest, verifiable facts, and sound editorial judgment rather than pressure or influence.
Advertising, sponsorship, donations, relationships, outside pressure, or political preference do not determine whether a story is covered, how a story is framed, or whether a correction is made.
Our Standards
We aim to report accurately, fairly, and responsibly. Our work is based on available records, official documents, public meetings, direct reporting, and other verifiable information whenever possible.
We work to distinguish clearly between verified facts, analysis, and opinion. When we are still confirming details in a developing story, we aim to make that clear.
- We seek accuracy over speed.
- We aim to provide context, not just headlines.
- We avoid knowingly publishing false or misleading information.
- We update stories as new verified information becomes available.
- We clearly label opinion content and guest submissions.

Corrections and Updates
If we make a factual error, we aim to correct it promptly and clearly. Material corrections or clarifications may be noted within the relevant article so readers can understand what changed.
If you believe a story contains a factual error, you can contact us and include the specific article, the issue you identified, and any supporting information.
Correction requests can be sent through Work With CCJ or directly to corrections@collincountyjournal.com.
Editorial Judgment
Not every source, claim, allegation, tip, or document will be published. We review information using editorial judgment, verification standards, relevance, and fairness considerations before deciding whether and how to report it.
Publication on this site should not be understood as a statement that every allegation is proven true. When reporting on claims, investigations, disputes, or developing matters, our goal is to present information with appropriate context and attribution.
Community Trust
Trust is earned through consistency. We want readers to know what we are trying to do: report carefully, explain clearly, stay independent, and take the audience seriously.
We believe journalism should be understandable, accountable, and useful to the people it serves.
